Patron Conduct
I would like the West Pershing Lights display to be a safe and enjoyable experience for my neighbors and visitors. So, please use some common sense, care, and courtesy while in the neighborhood. And please observe the following guidelines:
- While driving, be watching for parked vehicles, traffic, people, and pets, not the light show!
- Do not stop in the driving lanes of the road, pull to the side of the road and park.
- Do not leave your trash or cigarette butts behind, please take all garbage with you.
- Do not block driveways when parking to watch the lights.
- Do not use driveways to turn around; please go around the block.
- Do do not turn the music up loud enough to be heard or felt by me or my neighbors while we are indoors.
- If on foot, please stay on the sidewalk, my driveway, or in the park, do not stand in the road.
- For your safety, do not walk through the display. Stay on the pavement and out of the yard.
I can't stress this enough; Don't watch the light show while driving and don't watch the light show while standing in the road! And, for the record, the speed limit is 25MPH on West Pershing Street. Kiwanis Park is across the street from the light display. That Kiwanis Park block has no sidewalk around it. Kids and adults walking, running, riding bikes, and walking dogs on the streets around the park are a common occurrence. Don't hit my neighbors or their pets! It's also common for vehicles to be parked on both sides of the street (non-light show related). Please take care not to hit parked vehicles, especially in the winter when the plowed snow makes the street narrower.
In these challenging times of a coronavirus pandemic, please exercise reasonable precautions. If people gather around the light display, please be respectful of the desire for people to exercise social distancing. Disrespectful behavior or any other disorderly conduct will not be tolerated.
Serious violators of traffic laws or city ordinances that are caught on camera will be reported to the local police department.
Let There Be Lights

2022 Valentine's Day Lights
New starting this year… a Valentine's Day themed musical light show. Since the Christmas lights are still up, why not? Love is in the air. Or maybe it isn't. You'll probably find an appropriate song for your mood this Valentine's Day. Check the Schedule and Playlist tabs for more details.
2021 Halloween Lights
The Halloween lights were a little late getting up this year. Mudjacking the driveway and removing the front bushes to prepare for some concrete work delayed and scaled back the light display a little bit from what I was planning for this year. But I did finally get some Halloween lights up. Approximately 1000 LED lights synchronized to music. I was also dressed up as a Ghostbuster again this year. And then there was a special appearance from the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.
2021 Christmas Lights
The 2021 Christmas light show starts Wednesday, November 24th, 2021 and will run until Sunday, January 9th, 2022. Some delays getting the Halloween lights put up and taken down resulted in a slightly late start getting the Christmas lights put up. But they are up. Once again, no incandescent lights were used. Everything is 100% energy efficient LED lights. A total of 5,759 LED lights sets a new record for the most lights I've used since I started doing this over a decade ago. Many thanks to Randy at
Law St Lights in New London (
312 W Law St, New London, WI) for the deal on the light controllers to make the eight tomato cage trees (400 lights per tree) possible. If you are in or passing by the New London area, definitely check out the
Law St Lights Halloween and Christmas musical light shows put on by Randy and Brenda.
